The new year brought a surprise for clients of Berlin-based relocation company Expath: Expath’s operational business was taken over by Startcon on 1 February 2025.

Expath Managing Director Tia Hardy Robinson informed her customers at the start of the year that Expath would no longer be managing its relocation division itself. In preparation for this, she had been looking for a partner agency that could continue the processes as seamlessly as possible and under the same conditions. “I’m so happy, because I know Miriam and her team will treat them right,” she said on Linked-in at the end.

In fact, the two agencies have been pursuing the same high-quality approach for years. “We have never seen each other as competitors,” explains Miriam Mueller, CEO of Startcon, “but as part of a network of good immigration and relocation agencies, freelance consultants, Berlin Partner and similar players. Our common interest is to provide the best possible support for foreign talents on their way to Germany.”

The effort that such a transfer entails in advance should not be underestimated. Miriam: “It takes a while to fully process everything. We hope that the customers will have noticed as little as possible of the shifting behind-the-scenes”. In the meantime, she can say that the transition has gone very well.

The transfer was also well supported in terms of personnel: Long-time Expath employee Hannah S. moved to Startcon and continues to look after her customers there. She brings new impetus and a piece of Expath’s DNA to the new company.
